INFO IN ENGLISH:
In the concert at "Kulturkirken Jakob" 11th november, you will get presented a various program:
a solo program for classical accordion chamber music and the multi cultural project "The Kuraybers".
These seven talented musician from different cultures and music backgrounds got together through the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo. Their common musical spirit and humour brought them together in order to create a bend that combines Balkan, Norwegian, Jazz and Irish styles.
This combination of personality and styles brings a special and an unique musical atmosphere and sound, THE KURAYBERS’s sound.
BIOS:
Almir Meskovic:
Almir Meskovic, (24)is establishing an international reputation both as a classical accordionist and as a unique , versatile musician who is always looking for innovative approaches towards music and performing.
He knew he wanted to play accordion when, aged five, he caught a glimpse of the instrument at his home in Tuzla (Bosnia and Herzegovina).That was in 1993 and although 20 years later Almir ranks among accordionist with international carrier.
He is a prize winner of numerous competitions, including:
Federal Competition in Livno(Bih), Special price (2006)
Internacional Accordion Competition in Sarajevo(Bih), 1st price (2006)
Internacional Accordion Competition in Pula(Croatia), 1st price (2007)
Internacional Accordion Competition in Smederevo(Serbia) 1st place (2008)
Internacional Accordion Competition in Lazarevac(Serbia) 1st place (2008)
2008 and 2009 Almir got scholarship in Bosnia as one of the best young artist. After finishing music academy in Sarajevo with much acclaim, Almir has been so fortunate to qualify for the performer’s master level study at The Norwegian Academy of music with Frode Haltli from 2012.
Performing various repertoires from baroque, contemporary, folk and world music, Meskovic shows genuine interest for different musical genres - and presents them all with heartfelt passion and brilliant technical skills.
He was chosen to represent Bosnia and Herzegovina on "International Art Festival" in Moscow where he showed his brilliant virtuosity skills and musicality in different genres.
Until today he has participated a more of 300 concerts in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Croatia, Hungary, Slovenia, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Ceuta, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece, Sweden and Norway where all concerts were highly received by the audience and the music critics.
Today he is established as soloist and chamber musician partnering a variety of top level musicians and institution, as Yaakov Rubinstein, Alejandro Drago, Arc Music, Grieg Festival in Bergen, Bled Music Festival, Festival "Musica Clasica de Soller", "Akkordeon Art", Telenor, "Mimara Art Museum" in Zagreb(Croatia),"Sarajevo Winter Festival".
Meskovic has honour to open the concert hall in Ceuta(Spain) together with his friend Yaakov Rubinstein and Thomas Kolonomos where they have experienced a 15-minute standing ovation
Grzegorz Miszczyszyn:
Grzegorz Miszczyszyn - polish classical accordionist currently studying at Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo (with Frode Haltli) and at Academy of Music in Cracow (with Janusz Pater). He is a prize winner of numerous competitions, including: Klingenthal (Germany) 3rd place (2000), Przemyśl, 1st place (2001), Mława, 1st place (2002), "Coupe Jeunesse" Bratislava (Slovakia) 2nd place (2003), Chełm (Poland) 1st place (2005), Sanok, 1st place (2006), Dąbrowa Górnicza, 2nd place (2009).
In 2011 he was a finalist of American Protege Free Internet Competition which led to the half-recital he gave at the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in New York City.
He has performed amongst the others in the opera “Lulu” by Alban Berg with
Norwegian Opera, at Ultima Contemporary Music Festival in Oslo (2011), Internationale Ferienkurse für Neue Musik in Darmstadt with Oslo Sinfonietta (2012). In Autumn 2012 he reached the quarterfinal in a popular TV Show “Norske Talenter” (Norway’s got talent) together with his fellow accordionist Almir Meskovic.
In may 2013 he performed as a soloist together with Norwegian Kringkastingsorkesteret. Grzegorz Miszczyszyn has participated in many masterclasses conducted by renowned accordionists (M. Rantanen, C. Jacomucci, O. Murray, F. Lips). He has received numerous scholarships from The Minister of Culture and Arts, The Prime Minister and Musical Safety Pin J&S Pro Bono Poloniae Foundation.
